There is no obligation to proceed, and we will explain the process and likely costs before asking you to make any decision.

We will not contact another person or organisation about the dispute without first discussing this with you and obtaining your permission, unless we are legally required to disclose information or there is a serious safeguarding concern.
What happens after you contact us?
1. We review your enquiry
Our team will consider the information you have provided and identify anything else we may need to understand about the situation.
2. We speak with you
We will contact you using the details provided. This initial conversation gives you an opportunity to explain the situation, ask questions and learn more about how mediation works.
3. We explain your options
We will consider whether mediation may be suitable and explain the likely process, fees and timescale. If mediation does not appear appropriate, we will be open with you about this.
4. You decide whether to proceed
There is no pressure to continue. If you would like to explore mediation, we will agree the next steps with you. Where appropriate, and with your permission, we may then contact the other participant to explain the process and invite them to take part.
You do not need to contact the other person first
If you are concerned about approaching the other person or organisation, please speak to us. Where appropriate, our team can make the initial contact and explain mediation in a neutral and constructive way.
As mediation is voluntary, everyone involved must ultimately agree to participate.
