Darren Weir

Darren became an accredited mediator in 2021 (London School of Mediation). Since that time, he has been involved with the delivery of the mediation module at Kent Law School. In 2023 that module was the first in the country to be accredited by the College of Mediators as a short introductory course to further mediation study.

Since 2024 Darren has been a volunteer mediator with Ashford Mediation where he has undertaken many mediations in all areas of life ranging from family law cases to neighbourhood disputes, from workplace mediations to intergenerational mediation conflicts. He has also undertaken private mediation work in complex property and probate issues. Feedback has included, ‘You did an excellent job in achieving a settlement of what was an unusual case and hopefully both parties will appreciate the benefit of settling now rather than enduring a trial’. Darren has also delivered conflict resolution training to college students at Ashford College. The college was so happy with the course, that he was asked to return to deliver training to over thirty members of staff.

Darren is registered with the CMC for civil and commercial mediation. He has also been nominated in the National Mediation Awards 2026 for ‘Community Mediator of the Year'.

Darren’s previous career as a criminal barrister helps him to aid the participants to get to the crux of the issue in any mediation. He is currently Director of Kent Law School’s Solicitors’ Practice Course. He is also a Trustee for Ashford Mediation Service, Kent Mediation’s collaboration partner. In August 2026 he was invited to chair and participate in a Global Summit on AI and ADR in New Delhi.
