Dr Antonia Porter

Dr Antonia Porter is a lecturer at the University of Kent with specialisms in criminal law and the law of evidence. Alongside her academic role, she has practised as an advocate in the criminal courts for over 20 years, giving her a wealth of experience in supporting people through some of the most challenging situations they may face. Her research and practice have focused in particular on cases of domestic violence and abuse, and she has brought both professional insight and sensitivity to this area of work.

Antonia recently qualified as a Civil Mediation Council Accredited mediator and is extending her professional portfolio into mediation. She is able to objectively identify the salient issues in a case in relation to, inter alia, neighbourly disputes, breaches of trust and fraud. She is especially keen to support families navigating disputes and childcare arrangements, as well as other parties who find themselves in conflict but feel unable to move forward.

Drawing on her courtroom and teaching experience, she is able to create a calm and supportive environment where people can communicate openly and work towards practical, fair outcomes. Her approach is trauma-informed where appropriate, empathetic, and attentive to the needs of individuals, while remaining impartial and professional at all times. Whether working with families, individuals, or organisations, Antonia’s aim is to help people feel heard, reduce conflict, and guide them towards constructive agreements that last.
