Laura Charleton

Laura Charleton is an accredited civil and commercial mediator and Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Kent. She completed her mediation training with Hunt ADR and has gained Civil Mediation Council accreditation.

Before entering academia, Laura practised as a criminal barrister in the Magistrates' and Crown Courts. This background developed extensive experience in listening carefully, communicating clearly, negotiating and helping people navigate complex and challenging situations.

Laura is developing her mediation practice through community mediation work with Ashford Mediation Service. Her approach is calm, constructive and focused on helping participants understand the issues between them, communicate effectively and explore solutions that meet their own needs.

She is particularly committed to making professional mediation accessible to individuals, businesses, organisations and communities across Kent.
