Per Laleng
Per Laleng is a Hunt ADR-trained and qualified facilitative mediator offering civil dispute resolution services across Kent, both in-person and online.
With eight years’ experience as a practising barrister specialising in civil disputes, particularly personal injury, Per brings a practical understanding of how cases develop, where they stick, and what drives settlement. His practice spanned RTA, credit hire, clinical negligence, industrial disease, and other accident claims, acting for both claimants and defendants across England and Wales. This balanced perspective helps him understand the pressures and priorities on both sides of a dispute.
Having settled hundreds of cases through negotiation, including 12 settlements in a single court day, Per understands the commercial and other realities that drive resolution. His experience of legal costs reinforces his commitment to helping parties find cost-effective solutions through mediation rather than protracted litigation.
As a university law lecturer over 25 years, Per specialises in making complex legal issues accessible and in asking the right questions to unlock understanding. Teaching diverse students, including those with additional needs, has honed his ability to adapt communication styles to ensure everyone feels heard and understood.
While Per’s barrister training gives him insight into legal merits, he is committed to facilitative mediation, believing parties are best placed to craft their own solutions. He sees his role as creating the space and structure for productive dialogue, not imposing outcomes.
Per undertakes both private mediations and voluntary mediations through the University of Kent’s Mediation Service, ensuring access to dispute resolution across the economic spectrum.
